How we are competitive
You may be wondering how we provide a quality service when we charge so much less than other funeral directors. The answer is simple. Unlike most of the other funeral directors in St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives, we are a very small, locally-owned company. Our employees own our business via an Employee Ownership Trust. Andrew and Philip are the company directors, supported by funeral director Richard, and funeral arranger Julie. The quality of service provided, the growing reputation of the business, and the desire to help clients create the most personal and fitting funeral ceremony are at the forefront of all of our minds at all times.
You will deal personally with Philip, Julie, Richard or Andrew throughout the time that you need to engage Kingfisher’s services. With very ‘hands on’ attitudes to everything, they will be personally responsible for all that you ask them to do.
We don’t employ lots of staff – we’re too small for that. We don’t spend tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds on very expensive vehicles. We don’t have distant shareholders breathing down our necks demanding profits and bonuses.
All the above enable us to keep our costs down, so we do.
About our costs
We guarantee to be completely open and honest about our charges, and believe that we offer the best value available locally. Our small size and low overheads mean that we do not have to pass on any unnecessary charges to you. If you are offered a lower price for a funeral, please let us know. We are very happy to help you ensure you are being quoted for a like-for-like service before you make your decision about which funeral director you wish to use.
We will not attempt to upsell or push any service which you do not want or require. We believe in providing what you want, not what we want, and this is our intention for each and every client.
We will provide a written estimate of all costs and charges at the time of making the arrangements, and will not deviate from this without your permission.
As we are a small company, we do not have to charge VAT on any of our products or services, and this equates to a considerable saving on certain services.
Our professional charge of £2,195 is fully inclusive of making all arrangements, liaising with authorities, clergy or celebrants, removal of the deceased from the local place of death to our chapel of rest, use of the chapel of rest and visits thereto as required, care of the deceased and the attendance of a qualified funeral director throughout the proceedings and during the funeral ceremony, provision of a simple coffin and a hearsette for the funeral. Advice on registration, certification and memorialisation, handling of donations, local delivery of flowers and cremated remains, and all administration is also included within this charge.
Funeral vehicles and bearers are charged as required, so that you do not pay for anything that you do not want or need, and a discount of £100 is offered if the account is paid by BACS by three days before the funeral.
